The Black Hose
If you have a black garden hose, this trick is simply a matter of getting one (as long as you can). This technique works by attaching a black hose to a water source and coiling it around a location that's exposed to direct sunlight.
Basically, the darker the color, the more energy it absorbs and the more warm it makes. Although this method can increase the pool temperature a couple degrees, it can also be used for areas with mild winters.
Liquid Solar Cover
A liquid solar cover is a type of chemical that’s added to your pool to trap the heat and prevent the water from evaporation. After testing, liquid solar pool covers have been proven to reduce evaporation by around 15%. They also retain around 5 degrees Celsius or around 9-10 degrees Fahrenheit.
Although these chemicals are safe, they can still be dangerous to some people. So if you or a family member has a chemical sensitivity, it is best to avoid using these chemicals.
These covers have been tested and found to be safe to use with pool chemicals. They can also be used with pool filters.
Situations where this type of cover will not suit your pool.
- If you live in a windy area, having a liquid solar pool cover will not work if it is regularly disturbed by the wind.
- If your pool sees a lot of use - Since liquid solar pool covers are very thin, they won’t be able to do their job properly.
- If you have a lot of debris in your pool, then a liquid solar pool cover is not the solution. Not only does it prevent the chemical from working properly, but it also causes more frequent usage of this chemical.
Windproof Pool Enclosure
A pool heating system can vary wildly from being incredibly cheap to extremely expensive. In most cases, it will require the installation of a custom-made windproof enclosure. This type of system can protect your pool from wind and keep it open all year round.
This system is very cost-effective and will allow you to save a lot of money on various aspects of your pool. It will also make it so that everything is easier to control.
