How to lower Total Alkalinity and pH
To determine the total alkalinity of your pool water, first test it using a test kit. The ideal range for total alkalinity is based on the type of sanitizer used. For instance, you should use a 100-120 ppm solution for trichlor, dichlor, and bromine tablets.
The ideal pH range for swimming pools is between 7.4 and 7.6. Setting the correct total alkalinity and pH levels will help maintain the effectiveness of your bromine or chlorine sanitizer.
