Winter Chlorination

This time of year, the cooler temperatures will help minimize the risk of algae breakout. It's also a good time to make sure that your pool is regularly maintained.

What is the most effective way to ensure that your pool is properly chlorinated?

Find Out The Right Dose

You can also vary the amount of chlorine that you use depending on the size of your pool and the environment.

  • Granules: 850gm per 3785 litres
  • Tablets: 1 tablet per 3785 litres
  • Liquid: 400mL per 3785 litres

Aside from tablets, liquid and granules are also commonly used for treating various conditions. However, remember that some chemicals may have a different effect on tablets than those used in powders.

Correct pH

A water sample is a great way to collect data on how well your water is balanced. A chemical feeder is a great way to maintain the proper balance of chlorine and other chemicals in your pool water.

Clean Up Pool Filters

Chlorine will kill the bacteria that live in your pool, but it will not remove the debris that gets stuck in the filter. The filter should be removed from its box once a week to avoid staining.

Super Chlorinate

Although chlorine can help remove unpleasant odours from pool water, it will not solve the issue of skin irritation and pool water that has bad taste and smell.

Determine how much combined chlorine is in the water. Use a DPD kit or test strip to test your pool water.

How much shock treatment do you need to perform? The amount of chlorine in the water should be ten times more than the amount needed to remove it.

Add the treatment. Administer the correct dose of shock treatment and wait for a few hours before swimming.

Salt Chlorination

A salt chlorinator is a type of pool cleaner that uses a combination of chlorine and saltwater to remove harmful substances from the water. It's a great way to keep the chlorine in your pool at bay.
