What's the Difference Between Spa, Hot Tub or Jacuzzi?

There are a variety of terms for hot water therapy. Some of these are often used interchangeably. When people talk about a hot tub or spa, are they referring to the same thing? Or are they referring to something different?

Although the terms hot tub, spa, and water therapy often appear interchangeably, they aren't the same. For instance, hot tubs are umbrella terms that refer to all types of hot tubs. Water therapy refers to showers and baths, while Jacuzzis are trademarks of the company that makes them.

Hot tubs, Jacuzzis, and spas have plenty in common. They all offer a variety of features and benefits that can help improve a person’s health and relaxation. Let's take a closer look at some of them:

SPA

A spa can also mean various things. In some cases, it refers to a facility that offers water treatment, such as balneotherapy. Other terms for the same term include spa resorts and spa treatments.

Mineral waters have been around for thousands of years. They have been used for treating various ailments. They are very popular in Europe and Japan.

A spa is a type of commercial enterprise that offers various health and beauty treatments. Some of these include beauty salons, skin treatments, and saunas.

A spa is a term that refers to a hot tub with jets that mix air into the water. These jets are designed to give a more pronounced massage effect.

These are typically built to fit into various configurations. Some are designed to be used as standalone components or part of an inground swimming pool.

HOT TUB

A hot tub is a large pool or spa with aerated water. It can be used for relaxation or pleasure.

A round wooden hot tub is typically defined by its simple bench seating. In reality, this type of hot tub has around 8 jets and doesn't usually have high-speed pumps.

JACUZZI

The Jacuzzi Group is a leading manufacturer of portable spa products. Most hotels often imply that their in-room Jacuzzi bathtub is a jetted bathtub made by another manufacturer.

JETTED TUB

A jetted tub features several jets positioned around the tub. It's usually equipped with a circulation pump and an air blower. A luxury tub, on the other hand, has a heater that will keep the water running hot.

A jetted tub is typically drained after each use. This means that it doesn't require a filter or cover. It's usually installed in a master bathroom or a resort suite.

WHIRLPOOL BATH

A whirlpool bath is just one type of jetted bathtub, and is often used by bathtub manufacturers to describe a specific bathing experience.

THERAPY TUB

These equipment are used in athletic facilities to relieve the muscle soreness caused by repetitive training. However, they can also function as ice machines or cold water to prevent injuries.

A therapy tub is a type of inflatable device that has a circulation pump. It can also be equipped with an electric heater. A therapy pool is also commonly used for low impact exercise.
