How To Use Pool Chemicals From A Winterizing Kit

The following instructions will guide you through how to add the chemicals included in winterizing kits. The end of summer brings the end of pool season for most of the country. Taking a preemptive step, like adding a Winterizing Chemical Kit, will make springtime cleanup a breeze.

1. Before winterizing the pool, make sure the pool is clean and free of all leaves and other debris. Be sure to brush the walls, vacuum the floor, and clean out all baskets.

2. Test the pH of the pool water and make sure it is balanced. A good pH range is 7.4-7.6. pH Increaser and pH Decreaser can be used to make the adjustments.

3. Poor the Rust and Scale Remover into the pool while the pump is running. The Rust and Scale Remover can be added directly to the pool or it can be added to a bucket of water and then poured into the pool. Allow the water to circulate for 30 minutes before moving to Step 4.

Follow the instructions on the bottle for dosage requirements.

4. Fill up a bucket with warm water and then add the shock to the bucket. Once the shock is dissolved, pour the solution into the water. Run the pool pump overnight.

5. The morning after the shock is added. Pour the winterizer algaecide into the pool. The winterizer algaecide can be added directly to the pool or it can be added to a bucket of water and then poured into the pool.

Follow the instructions on the bottle for dosage requirements.

6. Once the winterizer alagaecide is added, you can proceed with the closing of the pool.
