The intention of this guide is to present  which of the more common Color changing fixtures will be compatible with the more common niches. If you have an older pool with a white incandescent or halogen pool light fixture, you may want to consider changing the old light fixture to a LED Color Changing Light fixture. Besides cutting your light operational cost drastically, changing to an LED light fixture will give you up to 5 color options and 7 light changing programs. For commercial pools, you may want to change to an LED White Light fixture. Your current light fixture is mounted in a permanently installed light fixture housing, commonly called a “niche”. Not all light fixtures fit in a given niche.

1. GENERAL OPTIONS - The most common white pool light fixtures and associated niches are manufactured by Hayward, Pentair, and Sta-Rite (recently bought by Pentair). The most common LED light fixture manufactures are Hayward, Pentair and Jandy. The following steps will show you, by manufacturer, how to select a LED light fixture that will be compatible with the niche of your old light fixture. Note: There are a limited number of light fixtures that can be converted to LED light by simply replacing the light fixture bulb.

2. HAYWARD CONVERSION - This chart shows you which of the common LED lights are compatible with the niches of the more common older Hayward lights. Three standard Hayward lights are shown: ASTROLITE, DURALITE and STARLIGHT. These three light fixtures are generally installed into one of the three associated Hayward niches as shown. The four LED light fixtures shown will fit into all three of these Hayward niches. As an example, the Hayward Astolite light fixture that was installed in any one of the three Hayward niches, can be replaced with any of the four LED light fixtures shown.

The six LED light fixtures shown will fit into any of the four of these Pentair niches. 4. STA-RITE CONVERSION - This chart shows you which of the common LED lights are compatible with the niches of the more common older STA-RITE lights. Two standard STA-RITE lights are shown:SUNBRITE and SUNGLOW II. These two light fixtures are generally installed into one of the four Pentair niches as shown. The six LED light fixtures shown will fit into any of the four of these Pentair niches. Three standard JANDY lights are shown: WHITE LIGHT, COLORS, AND COLORS 2. These three light fixtures are generally installed into one of the five niches as shown. The six LED light fixtures shown will fit into one of five of these niches. As an example, the Jandy WHITE LIGHT light fixture that was installed in one of the four niches shown could be replaced with any of the six LED light fixtures shown that has a matching "yes".
