Comparison of Hot Tub Filters
You could always find a replacement filter cartridge for a variety of spa and hot tub models. Back then, there was no choice between brands, they were all made by Unicel or Aladdin.

As the number of establishments that use pleated filter cartridges grew, more domestic manufacturers entered the market.

Spa filter cartridges are incredibly simple to make. Just roll it into a tube, and then shape and stamp the end caps.

Due to the rise of the number of imported spa filters, many of which are being dumped on US shores, they are often sent to mass merchants such as Walmart and Home Depot.

These cartridges are made in Singapore, and they have certain quality differences. For instance, the fabric used for these cartridges is called remay, which is a term used for quality remay construction.

Unicel sources state that the fabrics used in most imported hot tubs filter are inferior and that the cartridge performance is not as good as it used to be.

The filters from Home Depot, Wal-mart, and others are not only not good enough, they are also not posted.

For spa filter cartridges, the 3oz. fabric weight is most suitable, with a 4 oz. weight most suitable for high flow systems or large spas.

Below are some of the features of Pleatco hot tub filters:

- High performance pleated polyester media - (100% Reemay)

- Reinforced antimicrobial end caps

- Extruded PVC center cores

- Molded threads, no loose inserts

If you're looking for a quality product that will perform well over time, then stick with a brand that has been around for a long time.
