Alkalinity Up! What Is Alkalinity?

What Is It?

Alkalinity up is a term used to describe the compound sodium bicarbonate, which is used to raise the alkalinity. Although it sounds similar to sodium carbonate, it should be noted that the former is also the same chemical in baking soda.

When it comes to treating water, the difference between sodium bicarbonate and sodium carbonate is that the former raises the alkalinity level more quickly without affecting pH.

The type of powder that Alkalinity up comes in is water soluble and dissolves quickly, which makes it an ideal addition to the pool.

In order to raise the level of alkalinity in your pool, you should add it to it by adding it in front of a return jet.

Safety First!

Follow all safety precautions when it comes to purchasing pool chemicals. Doing so will help keep you and your guests safe.

Wearing protective equipment such as gloves and eye protection is also important when it comes to storing pool chemicals. Keep them separate from one another and avoid chemical reactions.
